You’re sitting at your office and someone sneezes. Your child comes home from school with a fever. One thing you’ve probably noticed is that while some people in their surroundings will get sick, others may not.
That raises a question. Are germs the sole cause of disease, or does a healthy body also determine the risk of disease?
Germ theory states that “bugs” – things like viruses – are the cause of most diseases. Based on experiments conducted in 1860 – 1864, Louis Pasteur developed this theory that states a specific germ causes a specific disease.
Pasteur’s rival, Antoine Béchamp, had a competing theory called terrain theory. Béchamp believed that a sick body will attract germs. Germs are always present in our environment, he argued, but a healthy body can fight harmful invaders.
“We do not catch diseases,” said Béchamp. “We build them. We have to eat, drink, think, and feel them into existence. We work hard at developing our diseases. We must work just as hard at restoring health. The presence of germs does not constitute the presence of a disease.”
Based on Béchamp’s perspective, your risk of getting sick depends on:
- How much of the virus you’re exposed to
- How strong the virus impacts your immune system
- The overall strength of your immune system
A Strong Immune System Helps Fight COVID-19
Our current health protocols again raises a question. Should we focus on fighting off germs that we are exposed to daily, or should we cultivate a healthy body that can fight off those germs?
From that perspective, someone with a strong immune system can better fight off viruses like COVID-19 compared with someone with a weaker immune system. When you support the terrain, you don’t need to worry so much about germs.
Recent studies have supported this idea. One looked at 5,700 patients hospitalized with COVID-19 in the New York City area. Researchers found that:
- Almost 57% had high blood pressure.
- Almost 42% were obese.
- Almost 34% had diabetes.
In other words, an unhealthy body and chronic disease can impact how well the body recovers from COVID-19. To reduce the impact of germs and viruses, we have to create glowing health.
You also want to be attentive to the health or “terrain” of your body to strengthen your body’s immune system. With these three strategies, you provide the immune system the support to fight viruses and other infections.
Strategy #1: Create a Healthy “Terrain” with Food
What you eat has a big impact on your immune system. Eating sugary, processed foods can weaken the immune system. Instead, focus on these foods, which contain immune-boosting nutrients. You’ll find many of these foods in our Core and Advanced Plans.
- Protein-rich foods. The immune system relies on adequate protein to fight viruses and other infections. Too little protein can impair the immune system’s ability to fight infections.
- Fruits and vegetables. Eating more fruit and vegetables can support the immune system.
- Fermented foods. About 70% of the immune system is in your gut. Foods rich in probiotics help balance the gut bacteria that play a critical role in immune health. Probiotics can support your immune system and stop harmful bacteria from taking over.
Strategy #2: Cover Your Nutrient Bases
Even when you’re eating a healthy diet, you might not be getting all the nutrients your body needs to thrive under conditions such as this pandemic. Vitamin D, for instance, can support the immune cells that help fight viruses and other invaders. Many of us are deficient in vitamin D.
In addition, a multivitamin ensures that you’re getting the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients the body needs to fight off infections. We’ve combined all of these nutrients in our Daily Essentials (for men and women), all in one easy-to-take packet.
Strategy #3: Get Extra Germ-Fighting Support
Keeping your immune system strong is so important during this pandemic. While your health food store or vitamin store might have immune-boosting formulas, not all of them have been proven to fight viruses or otherwise support the immune system.
Colloidal silver has been shown in studies that it can slow the spread of these harmful invaders including viruses.
Unfortunately, many silver products have side effects such as a bluish-gray discoloration when you apply it to the skin. Max Purified Silver Spray was created using Silver Sol Technology.® The silver particles are small enough to travel easily throughout the body and stop viruses and other invaders. Our formula can aid in inactivating viruses and other harmful invaders without harming healthy cells.
Max Purified Silver Spray is a safer silver product, but it is just as effective as traditional products. This, along with eating healthy and taking the right precautions, can help keep your immune system strong and resilient against germs.
