10 Tips for Staying Healthy on Vacation
Do you feel like you need a vacation after your vacation? So frequently people go on vacation and eat unhealthy food, sleep poorly, and workout less, causing them to feel exhausted when they get back. In today’s episode of The MaxLiving Podcast, we’ll discuss 10 tips to stay healthy on vacation so you can come back feeling refreshed and re-energized when you get back home.
#1. Plan your healthy food ahead of time
If you know you’re going to be in a car or plane for a long time on the way to your destination, pack healthy snacks or map out healthy restaurants you want to stop at. The last thing you want to do is to be hungry on your drive and have your only option be fast food.
#2. If there aren’t healthy food options near you, bring your own
Go to the grocery store or bring a cooler with food already packed to make healthy eating easier. That way you have healthy meal options in case you can’t find any options near your vacation spot.
#3. Stay hydrated
After being in the sun all day, doing activities you aren’t normally doing, or drinking alcohol, you need to be intentional about drinking plenty of water. Dr. Ryan suggests drinking half your body weight in oz.
#4. Be a good role model for your children
Whether you realize it or not, your children mimic a lot of your behaviors. Be mindful of your actions so you can be the best version of yourself for your kids.
#5. Be aware of people’s needs and desires
If you’re traveling with another family/individual with food allergies for example, be accommodating.
#6. Plan for the unexpected
Traveling and being in a new environment may bring challenges such as sickness, or allergies. Be sure to pack supplements to prevent and maintain your health if you do happen to get sick.
#7. Get enough sleep
Sleep is essential for energy and feeling your best on vacation. Be mindful of when your activities start the next day so you get a full 8 hours of sleep beforehand. If you have a hard time falling asleep on vacation, try our Sleep & Mood Formula.
#8. Schedule time to exercise
Just because you’re on vacation doesn’t mean you have to take a vacation from exercising & staying healthy. Our MaxT3 workout program allows you to get in a great workout in a short amount of time.
#9. Limit technology
Although technology is great for GPS, watching movies on the plane, etc. try your best to limit your screen time while on vacation. Instead, focus on making memories with the ones who matter most.
#10. Schedule your missed adjustments before/after your trip
Traveling can be hard on your body, therefore it’s important to make up your missed chiropractic adjustment appointments so your body can function and heal properly.
