As contemporary humans, we have lost the relationship to our inner primal being. We spend most of our days indoors, seated, in front of artificial light, and grazing on food that came from a grocery store. Our primal ancestors would view modern humans the same way that a wild tiger would a caged cat at Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park. The disassociation with our biological design has laid detriment to our physical and emotional health. Diseases that never plagued our ancestors, such as diabetes, autoimmunity, certain cancers, and heart disease, are now considered a part of life.
We can break free from the cages that society has placed us in. The key has been in our hands this whole time. We just have to put down the phone, stand up from the couch, place the key in the key-hole, and turn the key. It is that simple, but you cannot be free without consistent action. The comfort technology has allotted has made us addicted to sitting, frankenfood, Netflix, and social media. This is why the first step of this journey will be connecting to your purpose and creating a strong why.
Start with why.
If your purpose for taking action and freeing yourself of the burden society has instilled is not large enough, you will be a temptation victim each day. Your “why” should connect back to your purpose. Whatever your belief on creation is, every being on this earth was created, designed, or evolved. The commonality between all of these beliefs is that intelligence exists that encompasses all seen and unseen, giving rise to form. This intelligence is termed as either god or universe, and whatever you call this intelligence, the confounding power it emits is love. Every being on the earth was formed from love, and out of that love, every being was placed on earth with a purpose to spread that love.
You cannot share your purpose if you are numbing yourself by sitting in front of a TV grazing on food that takes away from your energy state. It is never too late or too early to discover your purpose, and your purpose may change many times through life. This is all part of the hero’s journey. We have a lifetime to find meaning, this is a human right, and nobody can take that away from you.
When you discover your purpose, you begin to live your life in virtue of values that align with this purpose. You will start saying “no” to anything that does not align with your values because your “yes” is so encompassing. Opportunities and teachers will begin to appear that before were unseen, and you have created momentum towards a kingdom here on earth that was once thought unimaginable.
Failing to Make Change
It is common for humans to procrastinate and wait for tomorrow to take action. Procrastinating and waiting for perfection to take action is the difference between ordinary and extraordinary people. The fact is that if you are waiting to take action, the message you are giving back to god/the universe is that you are okay with mediocrity. If you are failing to make a positive change, you are going in the opposite direction. It is a universal law that nothing remains unchanged; you are either growing or dying. Take time and write down your answers to the questions below, and answer these questions truthfully:
- If I change nothing about life and keep doing what I am doing, what does my life look like one year from today?
- ….3 years from today?
- ….5 years from today?
Answer these questions truthfully and feel the emotions elicited. Through these questions, I have seen grown men with millions of dollars begin to cry. These questions should open your eyes to the life that you are creating through your thoughts and actions. Once you have written these questions down, take a 4-second breath in with a two count hold, and a 4-second breath out followed with another two count hold, and repeat six times. Now answer these questions:
- If I make all the changes, what does my life look like one year from today?
- …3 years from today?
- ….5 years from today?
You should now have a vivid picture of your future self living a successful and purposeful life. This picture of future self is like a magnet pulling you towards your ideal life. As obstacles arise daily, you can use this image to center you back to living as your authentic self.
Subluxations Effect on Taking Action
Your brain is at the control center of the nervous system and the rest of the body. Your brain is a complex hardware system of neural circuits that organizes sensory information from the inner and outer environment while also controlling physiological functions. The brain sends and receives data through the spinal cord and the nerves exiting the cord via the spinal column. A subluxation is a misalignment of a vertebra which causes damage to the nervous system.
When a subluxation is present, your brain is not receiving messages optimally from the body, and the message sent from the brain to the body is decreased. This complex causes disorganization and a phenomenon that psychology has termed the “monkey brain,” a state that refers to being unsettled, restless, or confused. When we are in this state, we cannot change unless the subluxation is removed through an adjustment rendered by a chiropractor.
